I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and stayed in #99, an E/W, BI site for $30/night plus a reservation fee of $3.20. The roads and sites were asphalt and it was easy to navigate. I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and stayed in #99, an E/W, BI site for $30/night plus a reservation fee of $3.20. The roads and sites were asphalt and it was easy to navigate. This site was pretty level so no big adjustments were needed. It is located right by the bathhouse so there was extra foot traffic by the site (sometimes right through my site…) It is also near the boat ramp which could get busy in warmer weather. The “front yard” was really big and there were trees around for shade. The bathhouse was very nice and clean. It was not heated so it was a bit chilly in there some days. There is a nice little visitors center and a small market with basics. The lake is pretty and there are several trails you can catch right from the campground. I saw deer, coatimundi and a bobcat while hiking. Connectivity: I needed to use my WeBoost and the signal ranged from 2 bars LTE to 4 bars 5G with 3 bars LTE being the strength most often. Didn’t check for OTA channels and I couldn’t connect to the wifi in the RV. The sites 1-37 may be a little quieter since they are further from the boat dock, but they seemed to be a bit closer together. Sites that I liked were: 12, 73, 75, 78. Sites 39, 45, 49, 54, 71 and 91 were okay. I did have a problem getting packages delivered. I had contacted them before shipping them and was told it would be ok. Well, it seems like the delivery box is out at the front gate and only one person has the key. If they aren’t around (which they weren’t for several days) the mail does not get picked up. I wouldn’t do that again. Overall I enjoyed my stay there.

We spent the Christmas holidays here for two weeks. It was a great place to really slow down. We didn't have any of the noise problems that others wrote about. It was pretty quiet during our stay. We spent the Christmas holidays here for two weeks. It was a great place to really slow down. We didn't have any of the noise problems that others wrote about. It was pretty quiet during our stay. Higher elevation makes it feel a lot different than the usual southern AZ experience. No saguaros, more scrub.
Cell service in our west side spot near the visitor center was OK but the east side was zero bars. Campground is off the highway a couple miles down a winding, hilly road. Suggest arriving in daylight. Fisherman seemed to love the lake. Park offers inexpensive $7 boat rides in the mornings and sometimes at twilight. They also rent boats and kayaks. We saw many amazing sunsets during our stay. Great picnic area to eat and watch the birds over the water and the sunset.
The sites vary wildly across the park for size, check the descriptions carefully. There was one gentleman with a junky site that looked like he was living there but they eventually got him to leave. They also have boat-in sites. The birding trail was fun and we also enjoyed the longer hike below the dam. We saw coatimundi on the trail below the dam, that was a first.
Beware walking on the park "grass" with dogs or fluffy slippers. The grass is full of stabby, tiny little burrs that get everywhere. We're still finding them in our rig a month later.
Park is about 30 minutes from Nogales (grocery stores, Walmart), 20 minutes from the cute town of Patagonia (amazing restaurants but that's about it), and 45 minutes from the wine country of Sonoita. There is a pricey camp store on site.

In two visits three years apart, we found this to be a loud park with apparently no camp hosts and no one enforcing any regulations. We had what we thought was a reasonably quiet site until late that night two fishermen with an SUV & boat pulled in, starting playing loud music and pitched a tent 15’ from our small RV - closer to us than to their SUV! The next afternoon, a friend joined them with a pickup pulling a pontoon boat that looked like the Beverly Hillbillies heading to California. The 3 of them unloaded at least 7 cases of beer, strings of colored lights, 9 chairs + 3 lounge chairs, threw a propane tank onto the hard ground, threw stuff everywhere, and started playing the loud, repetitive, music for hours. The camp office had closed by then (5 pm) and, as stated, there was no camp host to be found. And there was no other available site to move to.

Very pretty Arizona lake with a marina that had boat and kayak rentals, warm showers, and level sites but Verizon was non-existent and AT&T was slow. As I needed to work, I left a day early. If you have books, games, or other non-digital activities to keep you occupied, then it's a great place to disconnect. Just wasn't what I needed

We love Arizona - the cactus, the arid environment and desert colors. Patagonia Lake was a nice diversion from that, an oasis in the desert. We thoroughly enjoyed our lakefront site, and breathing in the moister air for a bit.
The park itself is a mix of sites. We weren't too fond of the ones near the beach, they're more closely packed in and it had a crowded feeling.
But we were quite happy with the site we selected - 14. It offered a lot of site separation and great views. It also was perfectly level for our van, despite other reports. Many other sites in this section of the campground would have been lovely too.
Fantastic hiking, trailhead was near our site - along the creeks and swamps. The cattle are docile, and the birds abundant. If you have dogs, mind the hours they're not allowed on the trails for the bird watching hikes (abundant signs posted).
The bathhouses were back open during our stay in mid-December.
Could not get any T-Mobile signal at our site. But AT&T and Verizon had download speeds of 10-20 Mbps, but pretty poor ping and upload speeds. An indication of the towers having trouble hearing devices in this area. We only experimented with antennas and a couple 5G routers however, and got things usable enough to stream. We suspect this location would be a rare spot where a booster could make a difference in upload & ping performance.

We have only stayed here in the late fall, so can’t say how it is during the summer when there would be more boats and activity. Patagonia Lake State Park is a beautiful place. Most sites have at least some view of the lake. We have only stayed here in the late fall, so can’t say how it is during the summer when there would be more boats and activity. In November it’s peaceful and quiet, warm during the day and cool at night. Nice dark night skies, great for star gazing. at this time of year the water is too cold to swim, but you can still kayak and fish. Currently the bathrooms are closed due to flooding of the septic pits from the monsoon rains. Not clear when they’ll be open again. They provide porta-potties and the dump station is open. We had water & electric hookups. Our only complaint is that many sites are very unlevel (including 11 and 14 where we and our friends stayed). The town of Patagonia is about 10 miles away and is a cute little place with a grocery store and a few shops. There’s a brewery/restaurant in Sonoita, a little further up the road.

This is a very pretty park and I have no complaints about the park or the staff. But I read a review on this website that stated T-Mobile had 3-4 bars. T-Mobile has zero connectivity until you are about a half mile outside the park. This was important to us since my mother in law requires nightly and daily contact via the phone. We actually cancelled our second and third night. We walked to the ranger station and he was very helpful with assisting us. Again, no complaints with the park but do not think that cell service is good.

The sign said campground full, it was 80% capacity. There is a small 'beach' - the kids enjoyed themseleves here. Did not use facilities, signal ok (4g) for verizon. The water treatment area smells like a water treatment area. But the lake is great to stay at and the wife likes the sunsets. Some sites have no shade, but have a gazebo.

I really liked that this site was level. There was minimal shade at the site because the mesquite was left untrimmed so it was more of an overgrown shrub than a shade tree. I really liked that this site was level. There was minimal shade at the site because the mesquite was left untrimmed so it was more of an overgrown shrub than a shade tree. I was not able to pull my awning out completely due to the unkempt tree and my rig was left in full sun, in June, for most of the day. The sun lit up the camper at 7am. We got shade about one hour before sundown. I would only camp in spot 54 during the winter due to the lack of shade. Many of the sites in the west lot are very, very sunny. Our site was also also full of trash that had blown into it because it backs up to a depression between roads. During the winter the sites are well kept and tended to by staff. Not so this time. I am not sure what the difference is. Every site we saw said reserved on it but only 20%, at most, of the spots were being used on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday, the park began to fill in for the weekend. It felt like the park was understaffed for the summer. I can't say for sure if this was what was actually going on. My children enjoyed to beach. I don't know if I would be willing to return to camp at Patagonia Lake State Park for the summer months. It feels like the locals don't matter to the AZ state park system.

We visited in Feb. 2018 and it was in the 70's for highs and 40's for lows. Fished, kayaked, hiked, and watched birds. We would totally go back. All the deets - see the video!
