The only advantage of the Munising-Pictured Rocks KOA RV Park was its proximity to Munising town. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep, it’s fine. But if you’re hoping for a delightful campground “experience,” well, don’t hold your breath. The sites are packed dirt—nothing special. That’s okay for a budget state park, but not for a KOA. Despite our site being about as private as a glass house and as noisy as a rock concert thanks to the road, it did have one perk: it was spacious. So, all things considered, it wasn't a total disaster.

If you are using the campground mostly for sleeping, which is us, it’s fine. If you want to enjoy a campground “experience “, not so much. Dirt sites, nothing special. Expected from an inexpensive state type park, but not a KOA. Close to cute town of Munising though

THE GOOD
Location: Close to town where you go to take any of the tours of Pictured Rocks. Also close to gas, food, and groceries (about 10 min).
Sites: Backed up to woods with lots of space and felt really comfortable for a camping experience.
THE BAD
Site: All grass and not level.
NOT GOOD OR BAD:
Wifi: Did not connect to campground wifi.
Cell service: Neither Verizon or AT&T were good. AT&T was just good enough to get some light work done.
Facilities: Did not use laundry or showers to review.

These spots did not have sewer, but are really large and private. The front spots are right on the road and seemed very exposed and lacked the charm of the rest of the park. Cell coverage with Verizon was not great, but internet reached to most spots.

Would definitely stay here again.

We had a reservation for two nights but did a drive thru and decided to cancel since we were assigned a back-in site with limited room for turning our 24’ trailer and long bed truck. Also, Cell coverage was poor only one bar for AT&T and Verizon - not adequate for work.

Nicely wooded camp, most of our neighbors were kind but one group was loud even after 11p and their fire was so large the smoke forced us to close our windows and put on the AC to keep from chocking. We would come back hoping for all the neighbors to be great.

We averaged $44 / night for W/E30/I with out KOA discount ($49 without). Our dirt space sloped 4 to 6 inches between our wheels but was totally shaded as the entire campground is heavily wooded. Internet service was very good. While there sites were spacious with many trees between neighboring sites, the area where we could park our motorhome on the site was very narrow with trees on both sides. it was difficult to turn into our space. Also, we made reservations for our 37' motorhome towing a car. However, our site as barely long enough for our motorhome and it was very difficult to park our car without blocking roads. The individual checking us in upon arrival said if we could not fit our car on the site, we could park it in overflow parking on the other side of the campground!!!! Unacceptable!!! My 2 star rating reflects the fact that our site was not acceptable for what our reservation requested and the individual who registered us instructing us to park our car across the campground.
This campground is only a couple of miles from Munising. Many waterfalls and overlooks throughout the area are well worth seeing. Not to be missed is the Pictured Rock Cruise. Though a bit pricey at $50 / person, the sunset cruise we did was spectacular!!!!

We could only stay one night but would have stayed a week if we could. With the falling leaves it was beautiful. The campground was shutting down in a week for the season and only had about a dozen campers. We stayed in the far back row in a spacious private spot which is not typical of a KOA campground. The whole back row was like that but some other sites looked close together. The wifi was outstanding even though the campground is heavily wooded. This is the perfect place to stay (besides the price) if exploring the west side of Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore.
