All in all a great location!
Location in pretty dead center of the park. About 40 minute drive to North or South exits.
(We had to stay 2 extra night due to waiting for a new part through the mail, no issues and no knocks to leave!)

We stayed here because all of the Spread Creek spots were full. It is a large gravel parking lot, so rigs of any size can fit. Two porta johns on site. Minimal cell service. Can’t beat the views and proximity to all that Grand Teton has to offer. Everyone was quiet and respectful. We would definitely stay again. 5 day limit.

I am pretty new to true boondocking. Trying to find spots near a National Park large and level enough for a 36' motorhome is not what I call easy. Lucky we found this spot.
It is a large old gravel lot used by the National Forest Service. Last year and this year the NFS wasa not using it for its intended use. I spoke to the ranger and she informed me they worked hard to get this space available for dispersed camping.
They want most people away from the rock piles and along the opposite side. There are white lines on the ground indicating a single spot. Pretty roomy IMO. There are two porta johns for use.
5 day maximum stay. They do enforce the 5 day limit as a ranger came around and let me know when it was time to head out. She was super nice too If you overstay there is a $130 fine to be paid.
The sites can be a bit unlevel. I had to maneuver not so close to the side to find a spot where I could level and even at that my front tires were off the ground.
There are no trees so one should expect to hear generators running pretty much all day. One night there was one running till 1030 and another started up at 530. Such is "no rules" boondocking.
The road in is about 2 miles of crushed gravel and getting washboarded.
Lots of vehicles, included many passenger cars/vans, come in later in the day and leave in the AM.
AT&T worked well (25mbps DL and .8 UL) after I went through many gyrations to get connected. Was able to connect only after I used a pizza pan ground plane in my front window. Later in my stay someone parked right next to me and the internet stopped working. I needed to relocate my Nighthawk to get it to work again. My Reach booster could not get me connected. My exterior antennas had a problem getting connected.
Verizon had problems trying to connect. I tried most of the same options as with ATT but could never get connected with Verizon 7730 hotspot.
Seems to be there is only one tower for ATT and Verizon serving the whole Moran area. Weekends and some afternoons speeds would degrade to unusable.

At the gravel site the road splits and you can go left into the open gravel camping area or to the right. The road to the right has sites where you can camp clearly signed. I saw about 1/2 dozen occupied mostly by tents but one van and a 5th wheel as well.
The gravel site also had 2 Porta Potties.
Internet came and went with late evening and early morning being the best time to get online.
Rangers come through daily and frequently. They're serious about leaving items out that will attract bears and you can expect to be contacted if you don't follow the procedures. I watched it happen. They inspected each site and left documentation on two campers after identifying items left outside. It was either a smack on the nose notice or a fine. I wouldn't want one either way, or a bear.

This is gravel pit that will accommodate several rigs ( probably 15) . If the assigned sites on Spread Creek are full , as in our case, this is good alternative . You may not want to stay several night but it is FREE. Gravel pit is flat.

We were going to park at a different dispersed site, but checked this one out anyway. The best thing about it is that there are Teton views. We were camped in the USFS gravel pit area, which had a big sign that campers were welcome. The nice thing about the gravel area is that is it big and it is relatively flat. We were here after Labor Day, so it didn't seem too crowded. We ended up staying a few nights and exploring the area. It is only about 40 minutes from Jackson, and is also pretty convenient to the south entrance of Yellowstone.

Most all the numbered sites were occupied when we arrived the Friday of Labor Day weekend, but just as you approach site #1 you will see signs for available parking in the USFS parking lot. Tons of room here and a nice view to boot. Keep in mind that this is an overflow area so you will have campers pulling in at and sometimes after sunset. We had stayed the previous 3 nights in Colter Bay campgrounds inside Teton National Park and preferred this option a thousand time over. The campgrounds is cramped and completely secluded in the trees so zero views of the mountains. In addition, zero cell service while in the park, while out here we enjoyed service most of the time. Texting always and well enough to stream about 70% of the time.
