This is a large campground with mostly level, spacious sites with about a third on the water. We love COE campgrounds, but this is the most half-assed run one that we have visited. There is no gate, plus there is a very large picnic area and boat ramp so you get a lot of local traffic driving through, especially on weekends. There is no requirement to check in at the gatehouse -- just drive in. Sunday afternoons are the worst as we saw at least 3 different large groups of locals take over an empty campsite for a picnic. Each group had several kids running wild through the campground. The picnic shelters cost $50, but squatting on a site is free. As there are no car hang-tags or site tags, there is no controlling this. The gatehouse is only open a few hours in the afternoon, so when we arrived at 3 pm, they had no clue if our space was open. We were told to go check it out and if not open, just wait in the boat ramp parking lot. A word of caution for Sunday early arrivals -- DON'T. The park fills up with locals on the weekends and they tend to stay right up to the 3 PM checkout time. During the week this park is beautiful and quiet, not so much on weekends, especially sunny weekends. We camped at Maumelle COE in a Travel Trailer.

Big, open, lots of trees, not many amenities. We arrived late and had trouble finding our site after using the muddy dump station, which is a bit off level but we managed. Stop and look at the little map on the back of the guard shack when you come in to find your site first. F loop is hidden up behind A loop. On the plus side, you might get free wifi from the marina next door if you are on the upper end of those loops. We didn't use the bath house so can't report on that. Water and electric were fine. The whole place could use a leaf blower, as it's hard to see your site number painted on the pavement. Our Interagency Pass did not help here. You can ride the bike lane down to the paved greenway at Two Rivers park or up to Pinnacle Mountain where there are new mountain biking trails. They might be closed if it has been raining.

Spacious campsites with table and fire ring, clean bathhouses and plenty of fishing/water opportunities including fishing, boating and site seeing. Just 30 minutes from downtown Little Rock, 20 minutes from Pinnacle Mountain though tucked away in a lush green paradise.
