Arrival - Super efficient setup at check-in, you can tell this place is hopping in the summer with as many arrival and check-in lanes there are. Front office staff in the well-appointed country store is super friendly and accommodating.
Tips - Make sure to get all of your discounts/packages/Military discounts prior to check-in. Very communicative via email, so ask your questions. Make sure not to miss the right into the park (if you're coming that way) as the signage is smaller and off the turn. Don't worry, if you miss the turn off, there are very accommodating turns to make your U-turn to get back, ask us how we know.
Favorites - So many. This place is truly impressive. Other than the Disney property at Fort Wilderness and Creekfire Resort in Savannah, GA, we have never been someplace so well appointed, cared for and accommodating for every type of camper. If you are, like us, in a fifth-wheel, there are over 200 sites, if you want to stay in a vintage Airstream, they have 8 of those. Fancy a cabin, has to be over 100 of those. Feel like "roughing" it while clamping close to the Shenandoah River? They probably have 30 canvas clamping "tents". So much to do for the littles with a bmx park, massive playground, water park, tubing park and more biking trails than you can count. Very accommodating park for hiking along the river on well-tended paths, in the woods, and around the small lake. Have mobility concerns, you can rent a golf cart to get around, which you might need considering the size of this place. Location is fantastic for Luray Caverns (3 miles), Shenandoah NP (12 miles), New Market and Front Royal, VA. Great utilities with super water pressure and clean electricity. Starlink worked well at our site as we had clear line of site to the heavens (100-150Mbps down). Fall colors were amazing.
Negatives - Really can't think of any other than perhaps the price but, you really get what you pay for here, SUPER NICE.

I highly recommend renting a golf cart as this place is huge. There is also a spot to put your inner tube in the Shenandoah River , float a bit and take the tube out and still be in the campground! Only 16 miles to Skyline Drive and 6 miles to Luray Caverns. We’d stay again.

They call themselves a resort but don't have a pool or laundry. The price you pay is definitely far too much for what is there. They did have a large dog park which is about the only saving grace for us. We did have a couple of nights with some pretty terrible neighbors that the staff really didn't do much to alleviate. The Verizon signal was super weak and they did not have wifi (they were working on getting wifi at least). They did say that they were under new ownership and the new owners were slowly giving allowances for upgrades but they were not yet in place. As of now we wouldn't stay there again, that could change if they actually upgraded the park to the potential that it has.

Lots of trails for running and hiking. Right on the river! Great for tubing? Cell service was good enough to use as a hotspot for laptop.

There were very few campers there. Great reception and store at check in. The grounds were very well-kept. Bathrooms were clean. Easy registration on-line. Firewood was nice and dry. I could not find anywhere to deposit trash, but I probably missed something. Didn't try the wifi, but they have it available.

The location was a wonderful place for our family to hike alongside the river, fish in the ponds, play on the playground and just be outdoors. Our kids spent 2 nights in a tent site near our back on site which worked out well for meals & campfire time.
The only real downside were the flies. They were just annoying. We put fly strips up n our unit and pretty quickly solved the problem.
Be sure to let the office know you need firewood if you’re arriving after the office is closed otherwise you’ll have to wait until the next morning.

This campground was very nice and well taken care of. There’s options for all types of campers, from full size RV’s to primitive tent campers. You can even tent camp right in the edge of the Shenandoah River! There are also a few cabins for rent with a beautiful overlook. The bathrooms were very clean. There were only 2 stalls and 3 showers, but I never had to wait to use the facilities. Each cite had a picnic table and fire pit.
One downside was there speed bumps can be very hard to see as they blend in and with a car you will bottom out. Not a good feeling! Also, forbid outside firewood and make you purchase their wood... the wood we got sucked! It wasn’t wet, but was impossible to keep burning! It was also very smoky when it was burning.

Arrived after dark after spending the day on the Skyline Drive.
The check in lady called about 4 pm to find out our arrival time and went through the late arrival instructions. Everything was just as she said it would be, she even left a map with the route to our space highlighted.
The property is large and well maintained . The sites are well spaced out and the camp was delightfully quiet.
Would definitely recommend.
