My family enjoyed two evenings (Wednesday and Thursday) in Letchworth. Signage approaching the park was modest (atleast when approaching from the West). The campground is located on the northern side of the park so if you enter at the Castile entrance, there is a 7-8 mile drive up through the park to the camping area. Check-in closed at 7 pm (8:30 pm on weekends).
Of the four or five campground loops, only two appeared to allow pets (100 and 200 loops). Our reservation was for site 113 in the 100 loop. Nearly every site had dogs but everything was well maintained and quiet for the most part with plenty of buffer between sites. The loops were well maintained gravel with every site with ample back-in room. Site 113 was a bit unlevel compared to its neighboring sites. In the 100 loop, site 117 stands out as the best followed closely by site 115. Though most of the sites appeared to be approximately the same size, 117 was fully shaded, very level with the fire ring and picnic area spaced well away from the trailer site. 117 also offered extra parking space (more than 113, where we were pretty much limited to a 25' Airstream and tow vehicle's nose just barely off the road). Behind site 117, a modest view of the canyon wall was visible. The 100 loops bath/shower houses appeared sufficient, though, the 200 loops facilities appeared to be completely renovated based on its exterior. The "inner" parts of the 100 loop seem less desirable since you'd be surrounded by neighbors and some sites were in the open grass.
Firewood is not available in the park for sale; however, immediately outside the park approximately 0.5 miles straight out of the camping area, a local wood stand had $5 bundles. Between the 200 and 300 loops, a well maintained newer playground was available. Recycling and garbage receptacles were well maintained and accessible at each loop's entrance. There were 2 or 3 central water sources where you could fill fresh water while pulling in - no sites have full hook ups.

Letchworth is called the "Grand Canyon of the East.". While it may not pack the punch of the Grand Canyon (what else could?), this is one impressive park that is well worth a visit if passing through western NY. It covers over 14,000 acres and includes a gorge formed by the Genesee River with rock walls over 500' high. The park also has three major waterfalls. Camping is contained in a relatively small area with 338 sites, but spacing is reasonable. Sites are shaded and ours offered 30 and 50 amp electric hookup (not available at all sites). If you're bringing a pet, be aware when making reservations that some loops are pet-friendly and others are designated "no pets.". Also be aware that cell service is limited here.
