Gorgeous area with easy access to a lake for fishing and swimming as well as lots of hiking trails. The Chinquapin Overlook was overgrown and no overlook can be seen, but beautiful trails. Lots of open space for wondering around and most areas are very well shaded.

I came here after finding the COE campground in Maumelle full. So glad to have found it. Got there right before dark and the campground hostess was so kind to help me back in. The campsite was very level and I only had to chock the wheels. Very peaceful and quiet place. It is in a remote location and I couldn’t get a cell signal until the next morning when I was hiking. I hiked some of the nearby trails the next morning and looked around since it was almost dark when I arrived the previous night. Unfortunately the campground was closing 11/23 and I had arrived on the 21st. Went ahead and left right after lunch on the 22nd but hope to return one day and stay longer.

Just opened back up August 19. Two loops, one without electricity, the other with water and electricity. $20/nite with elec, $15/nite without. According to caretaker Loop A bathhouse has cold showers, Loop B bathhouse has heated. However, we were unable to get any warm water there, which may be because they just reopened. Nice wood... more
