That being said, the campground is easy in and easy out, we stayed in a no hookup site for $5/night using a Senior ATB pass, the normal rate would be $10. There is a "dump station" but it doesn't have potable water, and the rinse water seems very low pressure. I believe there is some potable water to be had in the park, but there's no sign signifying it as potable so I'm not sure I trust it. All the E/W sites we saw look pretty good, but not really shady, level, or private so we opted for solitude and a level site and took a no hookup site under the trees.
The lake is lovely but the only access I saw was via a boat launch, there may be an area that you can call a beach, but I don't know where it is. OH! when you're walking your dog, watch out for sand spurs in the grassy areas. There weren't any back where we were camping luckily.
This is a nice and inexpensive rest spot for a night or two, but I probably wouldn't go any further that that because unless you are into ATVs, (maybe fishing?) there doesn't seem to be anything else to do and nothing as far as shopping or convenience for miles and miles away.

Very quiet, starkly beautiful and peaceful. Inadequate signage driving in, plus confusing map at entrance but helpful neighbors straightened us out. Gnats at night due to nearby water. Pit toilets not clean but adequate.

Quiet campground with only a few other sites occupied. Had water and electric hookups and there is a dump station on site. Nice for a overnight stay while traveling. Payment is on the honor system by filling out an envelope and leaving cash in a box.

Perfect retreat from windy I-40 and just 4 miles off I-40! This small lake campground lies slightly below the flat windy plain in a shallow valley studded with cottonwood trees by a small retreating lake. The winds up on the plain with the Interstate were howling today. Down here in the treed campground there is a light oscillating breeze. Super quiet location.
The lake is drying up and consequently the health of the cottonwood trees is declining. Don't be put off by the condition of the trees. The remaining lake has lots of ducks to watch, even though the level is lower than the boat ramp. The campground surroundings is a nice place to walk or bicycle in the evenings. We didn't use the restrooms or showers, but they look pretty good.
Below the Camp Host site where the USA flag flies, grab a payment envelope and go park in your site of choice. We kept Toad connected and drove through the whole place easily. It's a nice walk back to drop the payment in the pipe where you got the envelope and walk down the boat ramp to see the ducks.
CAMPSITES: Nearly level campsites, several pull-throughs.
FULL SERVICE SITES: 30amp electric (new), good water, sewer connection - $20 (only $10 with National Parks Senior Pass, etc.) Best sites in trees are #18, #17, #16
DRY CAMP SITES: $10 (only $5 with National Parks Senior Pass, etc.) Best site is #9
Compared to all the other RV Campgrounds in the area, this site is out of the wind in a quiet, serene environment. Enjoy!

BAD SHAPE. Could barely see the camp sites. We MAY have been in one but could also have been on the road. No bathrooms, No electric, didn’t try any water. We are self contained so stayed anyway as it was near dusk and didn’t feel like driving any longer.
Needs some serious attention. Pass this one by til next summer. I think it would be a great place once it’s cleaned up.
NO cell service. NO air TV Texting only.

Coyotes and sand hill cranes serenaded us at sunset and the stars were magnificent.
ATV trailhead was getting some use.

Camped 6/9/20 (Tuesday night). Open, but restroom/shower facilities were closed due to COVID-19. Vault toilet was available. We had extreme winds when arriving; since the campground was almost empty, we picked an appropriate site that pointed us with the wind. Our site and some others weren't numbered. All seemed fairly level - we didn't have to level our camper. A paved road comes into the campground, but loop roads and most sites are gravel. There are a number of pull-throughs and of course, back-ins. Our site was very large, right across from site 13. Had we thought about not having showers and restrooms, we would have picked McDowell CG which had lakeside sites. No privacy, but sites aren't on top of each other. There are large trees throughout, so sites range from full shade to mostly sun.
Amenities include picnic table, fire ring, grill, ATV trails from the campground, swing set, dumpster, electric and non electric sites, drinking water, VT, showers and restrooms, a picnic area, group picnic pavillion. Electric sites had water with faucet (not pump) and a cement pad underneath with a drain; for non electric sites, water was at the restroom. It was quiet with deer, birds, and coyotes howling at sunset. However, if the campground was full of people with ATVs, it wouldn't be as pleasant. There are more electric sites than non, and one area of electric is like a large parking lot, so campers would be right next to each other.
The lake was real low, so the island wasn't even under water. There was a camp host, but didn't see them at all. Maybe little attention is paid to this campground due to COVID. At the self-pay fee station, there were 3 deposit pipes and 2 were full. The VT had trash on the floor (in the woman's anyway, but there was TP). However, the area was mowed and weed-wacked.

Paid $10 for a non electric site. The park is really beautiful and spread out. When we arrived there was literally no one else there, which felt weird but also awesome. We picked a spot close to the showers. There are 4 bathroom/shower rooms split into two buildings. One of the buildings was locked, and of the two unlocked bathrooms only one had a door that closed properly, so essentially only one functional bathroom/shower. But I appreciated the amount of shower space. It wasn’t the cleanest I’ve seen, but it was definitely the roomiest and the water pressure and heat were excellent. Not too long after arriving, a couple trucks carrying ATVs rolled through and they had some fun throughout the day. The ATV trails run right along the edge of the campground so be prepared for the possibility of noisiness. We heard lots of coyotes at night. The stars were incredible. I would definitely stay here again.

The whole place is in need of some TLC... The electric hookups at the site were at didn't work so we connected to the neighbors pedestal instead. Water hookup was a bit leaky as well. The bathrooms (which did have showers) had rust over much of the metal parts, and the swing set was missing 2 of the 4 swings. Nothing a few hours with the proper tools, parts and paint can't fix but looks like the maintenance of the park had been neglected for a while.
Best part about the park was the quiet. My wife is a musician and needed to record some music and there was almost no noise aside from our little ones running around outside.
