Beautiful open dispersed camping on the right side. Our site was on a bluff with a beautiful view. Only 3 other campers near us, the closest about 100 feet away. We pulled off the road so didn’t have a problem with dust.

This camp site is dusty and as crowded as a KOA. Every camp site is near one of many dusty roads that cross cross the camp site, so your gear will inevitably get filthy. The roads are rutted and not easily passable by regular car; some of the roads are so deeply rutted, I couldn’t even attempt to drive on them without bottoming out, so I couldn’t get far past the turnout from the main road. The campers are so close together, I can hear people snoring. People were still driving in at 11pm on a Monday to set up camp, and RV campers were still loudly partying till midnight. The land here is full of shale, so site prep for tent camping is extremely difficult, and driving tent stakes is nearly impossible. Better bring MSR Groundhogs, because those cheap hook stakes will NOT work here. I seriously hate this camp site. If I had gotten here before dark, I would have gone somewhere else. Do not recommend

I was constantly harassed here, in one day I wound up relocating to three different sites to avoid people being dicks. I think one group of people even pursued me from site to site. For me it was Probably a combination of queer/trans phobia and classism. But I would say if your not really white and enfranchised and even monied you might have a negative experience at this well populated but beautiful site. Which is less dispersed and more an expansive and rugged campground. Primitive off course too. The cell service and garbage service is nice. But it attracts a density of assholes.

Lots of open space, always someone here, we arrived on a weds, and did not feel alone. Beautiful Mountain View’s, close to everything you want to be close to. Trash service, fire pits (make shift from other campers). And it’s all free, amazing!

It was WINDY and dusty when we arrived which made it a PITA to find a quality spot without a constant dust storm in your face. I’m sure it’s very pleasant when not windy. I would still stay here again. Great cell service!

Stayed two nights in Apr 2020. Location is a central to Escalante, Boulder, and many slots off of Hole in the Rock Road. Sites a spaced apart so you don’t notice your neighbor. The area is relatively clean except out site had an abandoned awning. The area is dusty so be prepared to manage dirt getting everywhere. Would stay here again.

The roads inside the camping area have big ruts and dry washouts (could be creeks in heavy rains, but I’m not sure) so I wouldn’t recommend arriving in the dark unless you know where you are going. But they are easy to navigate in daylight & with decent vehicle clearance. That being said there was a newer muscle car in there when we left, they just parked in the first area. This place must be huge because we saw about 10 cars drive in and they were out of sight. A few big busses, so definitely big rig friendly.

We went right to find a spot on the edge of the mesa. If it's raining, these roads can get slicked out, but if not, you can go down a bit - maybe a half mile to a mile. We found one right away. No issues with our 26-foot trailer. Saw Class A and all sorts of vehicles camped everywhere on this open and flat spot.
