Pros - Price, friendly staff, lots of spots, access to lake, bathrooms with free showers, occasional dumpsters for waste disposal, good amount of shade from trees, views of the stars, good starlink coverage.
Cons - Dirty bathrooms, sticky sand by lake with many dead critters, 2 flight paths of constant planes flying overhead from 9/10am to 12am, sewer hookup separate from site, city light pollution during star gazing, can get really hot with no relief from warm lake, construction on nearby highway was quite rough and aggressive.

This is a COE campground built in the 60s or 70s. Get an annual federal park pass and save 50% of the nightly fee. Plus any entrance fees are waived as well. (regular price is $30/night at this location).

picnic table with roof at all sites
Dump station for emptying tanks
Drawback to my location - dumpster is next to my site. Good news is it doesn't smell and was apparently recently emptied (not much in there when I took my trash out).
Wide open sites. Lots of room between everyone. Plenty of trees and plenty of full sun availability for things like Starlink access.
Trees appear to be well groomed so that they don't hit the top of your RV.
Quiet here.
I was able to make last-minute mid-week reservations without any problems through the website.
Friendly staff at the gatehouse.
They allow UPS FedEx Kroger and other delivery services in the part - BUT they have to have your site # in order to get in to deliver to you. Gatehouse does not accept deliveries!
Bathhouse was clean, though older and walls in need of some repair. Shower head was newer in the shower stall I used. Easy disabled access

I decided to try this part as it's close to home and was available at the last minute. I found the office to be friendly but not very knowledgeable regarding other parts in the area.
My campsite was on the lake with a good amount of space and shade. There is a lot of camper noise in the campground that seems to carry for some of reason. Other than that I found it peaceful and all the campers seem friendly enough.
The sites away from the lake are plain with most in large fields.
The only deaw back I found was that there are a small number of restroom in the campground and they are all space a large distance apart. Also the restrooms are old, and in need of some minor repairs.
It was a good experience all around.

The park is located not far from I 35E. There is pavement all the way. Signage is adequate. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are paved and in good condition.
Our sites, 08 and 29, were paved asphalt back ins that were easily long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp, and water only) were to the left side. Distancing is not bad for an urban park. Some sites had a vegetation privacy barrier. Each site has a table on a concrete patio and a fire pit. Our site was flat and even. Overall the park was clean and well manicured
There is NO park included wifi or cable TV. We found a number of OTA channels. Satellite might be difficult. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean and modern.
There are trails within the park as well as boat launching on site.
There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be a good place to use visiting the local attractions. We paid $30.00 per night and feel we received very good value. We will be back if we are in the area again.

Third time we've stayed here for family visits and I'm sure we'll be back.
There is a lot of highway noise from I-35, so it's a trade-off for the convenience of the location.
We saw a lot of deer and lots of birds.

Overall, very nice visit. No issues to check camera check out. The roads are paved, the camp spots are fairly level. We saw lots of different sizes of RVs and campers. We were in our Airstream Basecamp 20X, and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The map says that there is a nature trail to walk around, but we never found it.

A great camping spot, close to home. Spots are mostly level, and very clean, although fire ring could use a bit of work. The only thing missing here is some good hiking, but the park is large enough to at least a 2 mile walk in without backtracking. You hear planes and a bit of traffic but not too loud.

Nice place to stay! Lots of trees. Sites open with paved parking pad. Toilet & showers nearby. Each site has own electric, water, picnic table, grill, and fireplace with grate.
Can hear the freeway, but it’s not too bad. Didn’t keep us awake. Beautiful lake!! Would stay here again.
