We stopped in to Gregg Lake as it was on our route from Jasper to Alaska, and had electricity sites available on a Saturday. Nicely wooded sites. 30 amp service was C$42. Would stay again.

“Friendly Staff, Expensive, Close Spots ”

Maybe it’s the Ravens that woke me up but I’m not impressed by the expensive sites here with no view of the lake that are fairly close to each other. For a heavily wooded area it’s strange I can see 7 sites from my own
30 amp electric only sites 42 or no service sites 34. Firewood 10

We went to Gregg lake for a 5 day holiday at the end of June 2020. Sadly, we only had one day of sunshine and the rest was non stop rain.
The campsite is well treed with walking trails leading down to the water's edge. Canoe rentals available on site. We rented a Canoe as we havent bought one yet. We want to come back when we have our own so we can spend more time on the lake. The lake is over a kilometer long and not very deep, a very lovely 2 hour paddle around with nice views. In the evening, walking down to the lake front and dock from section L is very pleasant.
The sites are about 3 km from the office so not an easy walk. Other site sections (A-G) are closer to the office where there is firewood for 8$ and kindling for 7$. The downside is they are 2-3km from the water front.
Due to COVID, the national park campgrounds were closed at the time we were planing the trip. But if you plan the attractions in Jasper National Park that you want to hit up, you can easily make a full day of it. The park gate is less than an hours drive away.
HWY 40, the highway connecting HWY 16 to Grand Prairie is not in good shape. You have to drive it to access Hinton, or Jasper and it is in rough shape. You wont be cruising this highway at 100km/h long... the potholes and bumps are strangely staggered everywhere and unnavoidable. HWY 40 has some lovely views though.
Our site had no service, but a limited number of other ones at the campground are sold with power and water. Best info on Reserve.albertaparks.ca

Beautiful lake, kayak ready.
T-Mobile 1 to 2 bars roaming on Telus but works well enough.

We arrived at William Switzer Provencial Park, aka William 'Spritzer' due to frequent rains, and took cover until the light rains stopped. After that, a little sunshine allowed us time to walk to the lake and enjoy the outdoors. Mosquitoes were minimal in late May. Morning temps were a crisp 36 deg. Spacious sites with several different loops to choose from. Restrooms clean. This is a good one-night stop on your way north or south along the Bighorn Highway.
