The park is very much off the beaten path miles into the hills. No staff to greet you, just signs that there would be no water at the sites until further notice, including shower facilities . No staff to be seen, including via phone numerous days in advance to confirm the online booking I did not receive a confirmation for. Neighbors were having power problems in addition to no water. Site very unlevel, though enough space to work it out sideways if needed. Get what I get for a state park I guess. Leaving tomorrow for a private RV park with functional showers.

Kind of a pain to get to, but well worth it. Arrived on Sunday, very friendly staff at check in. Site was tight to back into, but was clean and level.

Quiet for us in February, it was 1/3 to half full in the u section. We backed our trailer over the grass but we did fit and could have been longer There is a water system pump that runs most of the time between the tent sites and u sites. U17 was great for us. I woke to the birds singing

As stated, the campsites here are just so-so. When trying to make online reservations (required), it is painful! We stayed here early in 2021 and the location worked (not great) for us. Now, trying to make reservations for us after next week, after several attempts at a search, I find many available sites; however, when I click "add to cart", this awful website tells me it's an "invalid" request as it's more than 180 days in advance. What?? It's only 8 days from today! Apparently, whoever monitors or developed this website didn't take calendar years into account. Calling the park - after a lengthy option menu - when prompted to wait for a real live person or to leave a voicemail - the line rings seemingly forever, until some weird message to enter a remote code and then it hangs up on you. The City of Austin and in particular, the City Park system has some serious issues! This is by far the worst online reservation experience I've ever had.

We arrived at Emma long metropolitan park on Thursday the 20th of October. We had already chosen our spot. Pulling into the park there were some low hanging branches. One of the park specialists drove past our site and I stopped him. His name is Richard Ochoa. I let Richard know about the low hanging branch and within an hour he came back and he had already trimmed the branch back. Richard was very knowledgeable about the park. He knew about the types of trees here and the fishing. It is so nice to meet someone that is so courteous and cares about his job. Just to let you know what a great and helpful man he is. The park is awesome. Has a beautiful river and the water was so clear that you could see the bottom. They have a beach area with sand and 2 piers that go out into the water with ladders to get into the water. Clean bathrooms. Ducks and swans in the river. We drove into Austin to tour the Texas capitol building. Took about 20 minutes to get there. My favorite campground so far. Will return.

Site right on water in beautiful narrow valley. Was able to drop kayak in water from campsite. Fire rings, grill, and picnic table in site. Definitely will come back due to great kayaking and location.

Only one central dump station for all campers to use. 33ft max spots as far as I know. My spot was back-in, but plenty of room to do so. While I was here, there was construction being done to update the bath house. So beautiful! Water was so clear. $5 more per night to be waterfront is absolutely worth it! There’s some kind of event venue or something across the Colorado River that had a party with lots of lights, loud music and people on the mic. But didn’t bother me much, no biggie. Would absolutely stay again! Didn’t have an ant problem.

Pros: This campground is 20-30 minutes to downtown Austin, which is nice if you're there to explore Austin but want to stay somewhere other than an RV park. It's on a really pretty river that we were able to kayak and look at all the mansions built along the river.
Cons: This campground was super weird. There are absolutely no signs telling you where to go, so make sure you have the google map link that the campground sends in your confirmation email pulled up before getting off the main roads. Cell signal drops out on the way to the campground. The one-way signs are NOT correct, and if you follow the one-way sign closest to the RV area, you will end up having to back up your rig to turn around.
The grass had not been cut in a long time when we were there so it made it hard to enjoy our site as it was super overgrown and buggy. The bathrooms were also closed and we were there during bad weather and had no idea where we could have gone if we needed to shelter somewhere in case of a tornado.
The website is absolutely terrible and almost impossible to book. The warning of the ants is correct and we now have ants in our camper even though we covered all points touching the ground in deet.

Due to the recent Texas storm, the water had a boil notice. That was ok, we just wound up going into town to refill our jugs. But the bathrooms were also closed :( and we’ll be here for 4 days so that will not be great.
We arrived on a Saturday, and as mentioned in other reviews, there were some families having picnics. The people across the lake we’re having a party. Both were blaring music, I think trying to outdo the others...that was not great. They kept up until around 9pm. It seems like the noise rule is not enforced here.
All in all, i think after the construction is done (I have no idea how long that’s been going on), and the bathrooms open back up, and the water works...maybe we would come back.
