We were here 4 nights during the week so there weren't any OHVs or partiers. You can hear 395 semis. Depending on your hearing level, this may or may not be annoying. Has water spigots but no dump station. Has pit toilets and clean port-o-potties. There is a water fillup on your left on your way into the campground just past the day use area - not shown on unusual campground map. Map does not give site details either but groups them. Water spigots also exist throughout campground and are well marked.
Picking a site: if you look at the reservation system and there is a ton of availability, I suggest you come here and pick a site then book at the kiosk at day use. The sites vary widely by level, amount of weeds, length, privacy etc. Do you want water views or Mt Whitney views? The first section has lots of trees where the back sections do not. Somebody said 160 was a good site so we reserved it. I would not recommend for a class A towing a car. If you're towing anything - just avoid the whole "Hunter" section 151-166. These sites are unlevel and overgrown. If you do reserve a spot and want to change it, they have a phone number at the kiosk and it was super easy to change as long as your chosen spot has availability (check on reserveamerica.com).

We arrived for a night in our travels. Site were marked but not defined as to parking. Not level and pads were dirt.
People came in at 11pm and not only set up but partied until 2am. We heard ATV going as well as trucks. It was not pleasant.
The only positive thing I could mention is the water spigot as you drove in.

When called they said "there was a honey wagon on site all summer but is now in Bishop". We planed on there being a dump station so that was a problem. Otherwise I would give this county campground four stars. It was inexpensive, not crowded, sites were not well marked but there was plenty of room, quite a few trees for shade, the temps were pleasant, not much wind, and I have never seen more stars in my life.

I wish I could give this place more than 2 generous stars. Obligatory disclaimer, we stayed 2 nights on Labor Day weekend, so there’s that. The winds were consistently pretty bad, so there’s that. But for God’s sake, who’s idea was it to place a lovely county campground with a world class view, right next to Mad Max revisited? From 6 AM to 11 PM, 4 wheelers ripped up and down all the campground roads without a thought for their fellow campers, music blaring and dust flying and red white and blue lights flashing. This shithole is directly adjacent to the entry gate for ORV trails in the area and is NOT recommended unless that is your thing. Thankfully, the late night fireworks distracted us from the four wheelers and reminded us and our poor German Shepherd to never, EVER camp here again!

Sure, it could be improved, the sites along the West side are very uneven, they don’t plan to mow until August, they could add water, electricity and a dump facility and then the cost would be $40-50 a night and families would not be able to afford it. We would have boondocked along Movie Rd in Alabama Hills but BLM has taken that away and the other bLM campgrounds in the area don’t accommodate anything larger than about 20’!
The staff on site will dump your tanks for $15, they bring a pumper around.

We picked a spot and reserved it months in advance. It was for a 1 night stay as we traveled through. When we arrived there was a sign in the area we were camping that said the area was reserved for a group called “Clampers” starting the next day. We arrived about 5pm and there was not a camp host or staff anywhere on the property. A bunch of this group chose to come a day early. They played music and were extremely loud until about 2:30am. The rules state quit hours are 10pm. Being there are no hookups we had to have our windows open as it was hot! They started up the music again about 6 am. We left about 8:30 and didn’t see any staff anywhere as I was looking for them to talk to. After we left I called the office and the lady on the phone tells me that group camps there every year and they fully expect them to act like that. She said staff should have moved us away from that area but then I tell her we got there at 5 and she says well they leave at 3. And then says I guess some of the group decided to come early. Wouldn’t you know this since they have to pay? Someone had to put our reservation tag with our name on the spot. They completely did not care and blew us off. My poor husband had to drive 8 hours with little sleep the next day.

Overall good experience. Not great because there are local teenagers driving there at night and playing loud music so I feel there should be some better regulation on who can get to a campground area. People who fish there also leave trash behind and that is why I won’t give it 5 stars. Host, Steve was super friendly.

I chose to camp in the group area because it had level sites, was closer to the pit toilets & there were only 2 other campers in a large area of old shade trees.
Located next to SR 395 but could not hear traffic at night. Views of Eastern Sierra Nevadas were stunning, close to lots of trails, Lone Pine & Mt Whitney.
Checking in was via a cc machine & there was no posted info about prices until you actually started the transaction. But $14/night for water, toilets & those views was reasonable.

Mellow camp site. Pretty close to lake and neighbors were quiet and minimal. We spent the week here with our toy hauler and road our motorcycles in to Death Valley a few days. I would stay here again. Only wish there was a dump station.
