“Clean, Level, Spacious ”

Nice and clean. Must check in at Bldg. 600 to get the key for the electric box and water. Use the same key for the bathhouse. Might need extension for sewer hose and water. Military personnel receive discount, civilians are allowed but pay full price.

“National Guard Base - Civilians allowed - quiet, clean, kind of deserted”

The RV park at this National Guard base is pretty new. Very clean, well laid out, large back in sites, full hookups, asphalt with grass, fire rings, picnic tables, trees, right near the ocean! The state runs the facility, and civilians are allowed to camp, but you must have a military ID to get the discounted rate or shop on base at the small post exchange.
They have their own, private, beach on Lake Erie. The facilities offer boat rentals, bike rentals, cabin rentals, and apartment rentals. For most of the year, the facility is like a ghost town; only an occasional troop will come on base to qualify for shooting. They are on the other side of the base, and although you can hear their gun fire in the distance, it is not loud or annoying in anyway. For 2-3 weeks in August (I think) they have the National Shooting Competition - don't even try to make a reservation during that time.
They have a bath/shower house near the RV park, and a very small laundry facility near the exchange - but it's usually occupied by soldiers not qualifying. The allow dogs in the RV park, but no where else on base (strange, but I think it's for their safety with the military training and vehicles around).
There are no guards or gates to deal with, but do not follow your GPS to enter - instead enter between the two stone pillars (look like light houses) that the railroad tracks run through. Follow this road all the way until it ends, turn right and follow that around to the left, towards the ocean, to the clubhouse - that is where you will check in and get the keys needed to unlock the water and electric at your site.
