Boulder Beach Campground in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area is an outstanding CG. It’s dry camping with customary federal organization and with minimal amenities. They have flush toilets dispersed throughout the CG, large number of dumpsters for garbage, fresh water faucets, and a double-sided dump station; each site also has a picnic table, and fire ring. Fifty percent of the sites are open to the sky for satellite and solar and all are back-ins. They are level on both axises and consist of a concrete pad. They are plenty wide and plenty long; you can check the specifics for each site on Recreation.gov. We’re a thirty-five-foot A with a tow along and we had plenty of room for both.
Boulder Beach is on the southwestern side of Lake Mead and a close distance to boating, fishing and water skiing. Of course the area is close to Boulder City, Hoover Dam (which is a must see) and Las Vegas. From the lower loop I would estimate the water’s edge is less than a half mile; there is also a road that leads down and runs along the lake shore and ends at the marina.
Boating is not the only activity here, there are plenty of wide open spaces to walk and hike right from the campground. There is a paved walking/biking path that runs through the area and quite far up around the lake then actually goes up into Boulder City. We saw hundreds of people parked in the Rail Road Bed Trailhead walking and biking. It was sunny and beautiful the days we were here and everyone was taking full advantage of the nice weather. As a side note the winds never really got above 9mph within the campground, which I thought along the lakeshore would be higher.
Nice day trips include Valley of Fire SP, it’s probably an hour away. Red Rock Canyon Area and the Scenic Drive, which is a twenty-three mile loop road around and through the Red Rock Canyon; it’s probably an hour away as well and the loop takes about three if you poke along and stop a lot like we did. Another nice scenic adventure is to drive Rt-156, 157, 158 up through and to Charleson, NV. It’s a good couple three hours to drive but well worth it. When we went up there was snow galore from a heavy mountain snow they got the week before. We ascended up to appx 8,400ft. With day time temps 64 in the valley and 42 at elevation.
Boulder City is appx fifteenminutes NW on Rt-93. It’s a quaint and charming little town with all the essentials, with two great little coffee shops that I frequented, though there maybe more that I didn’t visit, Albertson’s for groceries is a very nice clean well organized store. There are a couple of nice taverns on the old drag where the Boulder City Company Store is (and coffee shop); Henderson with all the customary strip and retail shopping is forty minutes or so. It really has a lot of shops and stores, and fast food that you would ever need.
When we arrived at our site (50) two roadrunners just came strolling into site and were scoping us out. The Ringer Turtle Dove coo constantly; also it’s not uncommon to hear coyotes at night
All-in-all BB was a great campground and we’d go back without hesitation but do make a reservation.

We stayed here for 3 nights as the first stop after we had left the LTVA in Winterhaven, Ca. Nice campground. The beach(I use the term loosely) was clean. The campground itself was also clean. Most neighbors respectful of personal space. As mentioned many times, generators and helicopters are your basically your background music all day long. It is what it is though. It’s a convenient location to Hoover dam, about 5 miles up the road. The RV resort next door has a general store with some essentials and a gift shop. Very friendly people. The lake is super low because of a 20ish year drought. 4 stars not because it’s bad. 4 stars for the noise and lack of beach care. I’d stay again though!

We proceeded to the campground and there was no check in process. No gate. So anyone entering the recreation area can drive into the campground which made me a bit uneasy. There was no information about sites so we had to drive around to find ours. Site was paved, had water hook-up. Area is nice. Some shade trees. The area is beautiful.
The camp host was nice, but didn't have much information for us. Confirmation email stated the host could help you. People ran generators frequently throughout the day.
Bathhouses we're just toilets and sinks. No soap, dryers, or paper towels. A fellow camper was dumping there compost toilet in there one day and it was disgusting. Brown water all over the toilet and floor. There needs to be some over site at this campground. And a gate to keep out onlookers.
There was a free star gazing event one evening which was extraordinary and our son received a junior ranger patch. Plenty of biking and trails. Beautiful area. Sunrise is beautiful over the lake. Easy drive to visit Hoover Dam and Las Vegas. Albertson's grocery was about an 8-10 minute drive away.

Spoiled by…. Generators…. Please assign a particular area and restrict the hours, so we do not to have to listen to the machines all day long!!! 6 am to 10pm is unreasonable! You can’t sit outside!
Signs… update the bulletin board ( still up from 2023!)

The weather this time of year is perfect as it's still a bit warm farther south. It is close to Boulder City so you have access to a good grocery store. It is in the Lake Mead Recreation Area so there is an entrance fee. For us old people who have an America the Beautiful pass its free.
The campground is clean with plenty of dumpsters including recycling bins. There are some trees so most sites have a mix if full sun and shade.
The only negative is the helicopters from Vegas taking people on expensive tours of the damper and the Grand Canyon. It didn't bother us and they don't fly at night.

We've booked a place for RV, and as we arrived late in the night, there was nobody at administration to help us. So we couldn't find our place. It was necessary to pick up other one available - more expansive.
But anyway, it was great. good infrastructure, nice view - would recommend.

I put down that I have a car and a tent and they assigned me a spot, No place to put a tent unless maybe if I had a one-person tent. Each loop has bathrooms but no showers... Would be fine if you had a self-contained unit.

When booking a reservation through rec.gov just keep in mind you will need to pay for the entrance fee to the Lake mead area. We would stay here again we enjoyed our time. Oh and we are only 5 miles from the Hoover dam which makes it very convenient. If you have starlink be sure to get a sight that’s free of trees or you will end up switching sights like we did.

Everything was perfect except for the nonstop parade of helicopter tours that leave from Vegas every three minutes. They fly right over the campsite and start at 7:00 AM. Hardly a peaceful campsite!

The health department comes by and cuts the hose ends off the dump station due to people flushing tanks with the fresh water supply to the point the campground has stopped replacing them. Buy a hose bandit.
