We stayed here last summer when driving to and from Texas to Colorado and back. It felt very safe and had clean restrooms. There is interstate noise but not horrible. Nice walking path and a great area if you are traveling with pets. Would stay here again.

Two free parking lots, separated by large RV’s and semi trucks in one lot and rv’s in the other. Gleaming restrooms (no showers). Paved. Clean. Free. I don’t know of another city that does this, so three cheers Amarillo! And to all those folks crowding the Walmart down the street, next time check Campendium. That’s how I found this gem!

Amazed by the Texas hospitality here in Amarillo. This conveniently located rest area/travel information center (TIC) is right off the 40 East as you’re leaving town. It is divided into 2 lots; one each for Cars/RVs and the other for Semi trucks. However, at the entrance to the “Car/RV” lot, there is an overhead tubular steel sign, like you might see at the entrance to a Texas Ranch. It’s height limit as posted is 13’ 1” so we parked our Class A in the semi lot at the end of a row so we could open slides without blocking any other spaces. There were several Class C’s and TT’s in the RV lot which had no problem with that height limiter, which I assume is intended to keep the Semi trucks to one side.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. TIC resembles a library, well stocked with maps, guides pamphlets galore. Absolutely spotless restrooms!

This is a popular spot. We arrived a little past 1 AM and the camper lot was full. One fifth wheel had unhooked and put their tow vehicle in a separate camper spot and was pretty sprawled out considering they had also extended the slide outs on the rig. We drove into the trucker lot and it was full of campers too. We got a spot, but tried to minimize our presence to make as much space for truckers that still may need a place for the night. We need to be considerate of the men and women out on the road moving the freight.
That aside this is a nice place with clean restrooms. Good access to information about state activities, brochures, and maps if that is what you need. Had good Verizon signal, but I can’t remember how many bars exactly.

Right off I40 on the east side of Amarillo. Numerous level parking spots for cars, RVs. Separate area for OTR Truckers. Well lit and noisy so be prepared.

The travel center is on the south side of 40 but great easy on and off for the location with gas stations right there as you come in. With Covid going on, the travel center is not open however the bathrooms are and the staff keep them squeaky clean! The floors look wet but they are nicely waxed and shine. Bathrooms are back left side of the building as you are facing it. Some vending machines are to left as you walk to the bathrooms. Looks like staff are even their overnight to watch the location for anything out of the ordinary. We parked right as you come in next to trees where the long spaces are for travel trailers. Dry camping only but it was nice to use the bathrooms and for any water you might need on a smaller bases like a gallon jug. Trucks are in a bigger lot to the back of the travel center so you did not hear them idle all night or leave in the morning. Some larger campers (class A) or longer travel trailers did park over there. Be courteous and quiet as there are other travels coming in to use the facilities as well. This is good for just getting rest and moving on the next day. Happy Camping!

Restrooms and showers were immaculate.
A very positive experience for us. Road noise was not bad since it is a ways away from the highway.
Only potential negative was an unfortunate homeless person sleeping in the men’s room that night.

Great facilities but the parking lot was shared with a couple who appeared to be doing drugs and living out of their car (with no apparent intention of leaving— it looked like they went ahead and sold their tires).
