Traveling from St. Louis to south padre island and needed to stop for the night. I used Campendium to find a place near our highway outside of Waco Tx. We usually love COE parks because they are maintained so well. We got the last spot and were able to reserve online. It was a pull through that allowed us to keep our toad hooked up. Site was on the lake with a beautiful sunset! We also saw a few planes taking off or landing. Restrooms were toilet and shower combined and had fabulous hot water. And we’re clean! This is a wonderful park!

This was a great basecamp for visiting the Waco area. Magnolia and Riverwalk Park were high on our list - also the Mammoth monument. Park check-in was very smooth, we were on site 28 with full hookups - on a bit of a rise with a view of the water. This park has a total of 22 full hookup sites - reserve early if you want one. It was very busy with a lot of short stay campers. We have a 35' fifth wheel and sites we liked best were 9, 10, 11, 12, & 13. Site 14 is directly across the water from the boat launch and they have very bright security lights on all night - so I would avoid that. Other nice FHU sites on the water: 75, 76 & 77. If you don't need FHU also good are: 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25 & 27. West sunsets are beautiful over the water. All roads were paved, trees were not a problem. Can come in from either direction: north of the airport/south of the airport - Skeet Eason Rd is a perimeter road and the park entrance if off of it.
Price reflects 50% discount with Senior Pass.

We really enjoyed our 2-week stay here in January. Our site was neat and clean when we arrived, including the freshly raked gravel patio area. We had beautiful views of the lake, sunrises, sunsets, and plenty of deer. Our site was directly in line with the runway of the regional airport across the road, and the jets were loud and frequent during daylight hours on weekdays. The weekends were much quieter. An ice/sleet storm moved through toward the end of our stay and we decided to stay one more night before moving on. The attendant at the gatehouse was very helpful and fun to talk to as we booked the extra night. It's a secure park, with rangers and volunteers patrolling several times per day.

This COE park is a solid five stars if you are staying in a self contained RV. If not, read other reviews about the needed maintenance on bathhouses and camping shelters. If the money is not there to repair, not much staff can do. Otherwise, there is a reason that it consistently makes different "best campgrounds" lists. Spacious sites with privacy and gorgeous lake views. Outstanding and helpful staff. Many FHU sites that are clean and raked. Be warned that the loop with sites 44 to 80 are directly under the departure runway for the airport. It can get noisy during the day from very low flying, mostly private, single/ double engine aircraft with a few executive jets. Despite that, I highly recommend this park.

I'm so conflicted about this review! There are so many pros about this campground, but a lot of things you can't ignore.
First the pros. The views are GORGEOUS. The way the campsite is positioned you can see the sunrise AND the sunset over the water. It is stunning. The location is also pretty good! Nothing is too far away: Waco Mammoth, The Silos, bike paths, and Homestead Village. Oh, and the little airport is a nice touch, too. We enjoyed watching the plans take off and land. They never bothered us at all.
And now the cons, which I hate to bring up but you should just be warned. The bathhouses are AWFUL. We're in the 2nd loop and the door doesn't even shut, which means every time you go in wasps chase you. There's rat poop on the floor. My husband was showering and looked down to see that a frog had joined him (which is kind of cute but just not what we're looking for). I haven't seen ANYONE come to clean. They also haven't cut the grass our entire stay and the ragweed is up to our knees. There are trees that need to be cut down - they are harboring wasps and hornets. Fire ants are all over our site, which really stinks when you have a 2-year-old and pets. Finally, one of the women who is working the gate is mentally disturbed. When we were checking in she started yelling at us. We thought she was just joking so we started to chuckle, but that made her even more irate. If she was all there I would say she's rude but there has to be something going on with her, it was a little bit frightening. I hope she gets the help she needs.
So if you don't need a bathhouse, aren't allergic to ragweed, don't mind a few ant bites, and have excellent negotiation skills with crazy people, you should stay here.

This park is a short drive to all of Waco attractions including the famous Silos. We stayed Friday and Saturday nights.
Pros:
• Very friendly gate attendant
• Extremely quiet park except for arriving/departing aircraft at Waco Regional Airport
• Great view of the lake as trees/shrubs are minimal
• Clean campsite
• Very clean campfire pit
• Most sites had a nice distance from neighbor sites
• Crushed granite surrounds the site’s asphalt parking pad so no muddy mess after rain
• Pedestal BBQ grill, fire pit with grilling grate and aluminum picnic table at each site
• Some sites had aluminum roof pavilion over picnic table
• Some sites had lantern pole
• Park roadways in good condition
• Entrance gate locked at 10pm
• Plenty of TP in women’s restroom
• 4 bar signal AT&T
Cons:
• Filthy women’s restroom. Human feces on floor. Two of the three stalls locked for days. One remaining stall the door would not close and latch. Sign posted on door that restrooms were cleaned Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, but the human feces were on the floor Friday night, Saturday all day and Sunday morning. Exterior door would not close completely.
• No water to sinks in women’s restroom
• No soap dispenser and no hand dryer in women’s restroom
• Men’s restroom door locked Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning
• Exterior door to one shower room was unable to be closed
• Extremely low water pressure to campsite
• No site privacy due to minimal trees/brush throughout the park
• Low hanging tree branches over roadway and campsite pad
• Our campsite pedestal BBQ grill was extremely corroded
• No wildlife sightings- not even a squirrel
• NOT A DARK SKY FRIENDLY CAMPGROUND! Boat launch lights across the cove lit up most of the campground. Large lights on the toilet/shower building that made it nearly as bright as daylight!

As always, great clean sites with lake sites. Full hookups for our site and quick service when an outlet needed to be switched out. Sunsets over the water are incredible. Can’t wait to come back, again. Near airport with minimal distribution. Turns out SpaceX is across the water and we heard and felt a rocket test. Crazy cool!
