Both east and westbound rest areas were closed. No telling when they will reopen.

I arrived in my 26ft TT after dark about 8p. Access was easy. There were a few other TTs already here, but I had plenty of space to open my slide out. Generators going in a few, but the noise wasn't bad. We didn't use the facilities.

When you pull into the rest spot stay right (follow the sign that says cars and campers) and go behind and just past the rest room’s, then look for a large open gravel area off to the right, just past the trees. We pulled way off to the right in this large gravel area and were pretty much off by ourselves. You will still hear some traffic noise, but at least you can avoid the truck generator noise that you normally get in rest stops. We had great AT&T reception here.

We were grateful for a relatively safe place to stop for the night and break up a long drive up to Grand Canyon. We pulled a bit away from the semis onto the gravel and while there was quite a bit of freeway noise, it quickly became white noise. When we woke we saw there’s aHUGE gravel area back further away from the freeway, wish we’d have seen that but it was well after dark when we arrived. Bathrooms were clean and in mostly good order. There was potable water only in the bathroom sink.
