Overall Rating

Just outside Cranberry Lake NY off State Route 3 there is a road called the Tooley Pond Road. The road is both paved and dirt. Off this road there is hiking trails, 6-8 waterfall trails, the St. Lawrence County snowmobile/ATV trail system, Mountain climbing and paddling. Across the road from Tooley Pond there a one lone campsite. There is a outhouse, fire ring and picnic table. The driveway in is stone and the site is large enough to place a 35 foot camper. My dog, Jax and I spent four days there exploring the area and I believe this area is very much overlooked as there is little use but its a great area to explore. The road in from the Degrasse side can be rough in places so take your time on that side. Coming in from the Cranberry Lake side, the road starts out nicely paved, but after about 4 miles turns to dirt. In the spring the road is will have a posted weight limit of 12,000lbs, but the logging trucks continue to use the road so I'm not sure it get enforced. Access to gas and groceries are limited, Degrasse has no stores, Cranberry Lake is limited but there is a convenience store in Star Lake. Cell reception is in/out. At times I could send a text, others I could not. Since there are no neighbors...generator usage is up to you.

**This is a free camping site with no hookups, no fresh water and is a first come first serve site so if you plan to go have a backup plan incase its in use.
