McPike Branch Dispersed Camping

This was a very pretty area tucked in the hills of Indiana coming in on the Kentucky border. I enjoyed the site very much. All of the sites are easy to pull up into and identify. There was one that could accommodate a medium rv rig, but you would have a tough time getting an RV into the other sites that I saw. However, I did come in at night, and when I left in the morning, I didn’t go out the way I came in so I didn’t get a better look at the sites.

It’s a quiet area. No one else was there, so I let my dogs run around my site. Be careful though, you are off of a dirt road which leads to several peoples properties. It was rare to see a car come by but there should be one or two maybe three during the day. My dogs and I enjoyed wandering the road and checking the forests and grassy areas out. There’s also several hiking trails around but we didn’t have time to do them.

The sites have fire rings and you do get 1-2 bars of reception if you have Verizon in several pockets around there. Nothing good enough for TikTok or streaming, but you can send text messages.

There are no vault toilets or anything.

Very quiet camping spot and the place all to ourselves! Just a pull off with a fire ring. Dogs could run around wherever they wanted, it was great! No bathrooms or amenities.
