Camping in Utah

There are few scenic landscapes in the United States that are as instantly recognizable as Utah's. From the delicate red-rock arches in Arches National Park to the famous powder of the Wasatch Range near Park City, Utah draws in tent and RV campers year-round. And it's no wonder—this state has something to offer travelers in every season.

Utah National Parks

There are plenty of reasons why someone may choose to go camping in Utah, but the draw of national parks is surely one of them. The state has five national parks, each boasting spectacular scenery and plenty of recreation areas to enjoy.

Camping in Utah at a national park can be done all year long. While some campgrounds in the national parks are closed seasonally, there is at least one campsite within each that is open year-round.

The five national parks are collectively known as The Mighty 5, and consist of Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, and Zion National Park.

Utah State Parks

If you are looking for panoramic views, Dead Horse State Park is a popular option that offers a breathtaking view of the Colorado River nestled amongst the canyons.

Dispersed camping is certainly a popular option throughout the state, with over 60% of the land remaining public. Campers should be aware that there are limitations on how long you can stay in one spot, and be mindful of all Bureau of Land Management regulations.

"Convenient location"

We stayed here for 2 nights so we could spend one day in Zion National Park. The advantages of this place is the location at the junction of 89 and the road into the park and also the great WIFI and full 50 amp full hookup. This place is just a gravel lot along the road and there is quite a bit of road noise and not a lot of shade.

This little oasis was a pleasant surprise for a one night stay along I15. There are few conveniences in the area, but is is quiet, has lots of shade and a nice green area to walk the dog. Facilities were clean and well maintained.

"Stayed South off The Highway Next To The Pony Express"

We got here at dark so stayed in the big parking lot south of the highway. We had a great view southwest. We have a big rig and didn’t want to go too far so we hung out. People were respectful and parked away from us. Wasn’t too loud things a staging area. Here for four days. Not too far from town if you need stuff. It’s free!

"Nice Staff, Loud Road"

Walmart staff were very friendly and happy for us to stay. But lots of loud cars in the night going by, no fault of theirs of course. Also was one of if not the cheapest gas in the area for the next day :)
